02.08.2008 - Visitors Greetings Brothers! Just a quick note on the site status. Looks like we're getting a few more hits to our site this year. The following is a graph of the visitors we've had since the start of the new year. ![]() 09.27.2007 - Site Updates As you may have already noticed, the site has been updated with some new colors. The layout is basically the same, with a few tweaks here and there. We hope you enjoy the new look. Be sure to let us know if you have any issues or suggestions. 09.23.2007 - Another Year in Masonry Another great year of Masonry is upon us! This year will be another fantastic one. We look forward to seeing all our members out for our first regular meeting on October 3rd! 04.16.2007 - Updates St. John's is pleased to announce that the May 2007 regular meeting will see the installation of our new officers for the 2007-2008 year. We would like to invite you to join us on this evening, as it is always an entertaining evening. In addition, St John's is having a movie night. Be sure to stop in and enjoy. 10.07.2006 - Pink For October St. John's Lodge website has gone pink for the month of October. We are doing this in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month. If you would like to take part in Pink For October, be sure to check out the official site for more information. http://www.pinkforoctober.org. 09.07.2006 - Map of Winnipeg, Manitoba Lodges Bro. Paul Lepine submitted this map of lodges in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Be sure to have a look. 07.15.2006 - R.W. Bro. Neil Bardal, Past Master of St.John’s #4 awarded the Order of Manitoba Neil Ofeigur Bardal, a third-generation funeral director (Neil Bardal Inc.) and proud Icelandic Canadian, has been a leader in the Canadian Icelandic community and a major force in promoting the Icelandic culture and history of Manitoba. He is a former honorary consul general of Iceland (Gimli) and past president of the Icelandic National League of North America. Director of the Canada Iceland Foundation and a cabinet member of Valuing Icelandic Presence at the University of Manitoba, he has also given much to the wider Manitoba community including being a member of the Rotary Club and the board of Riverview Health Centre Foundation. The son of a Hong Kong veteran, he stays keenly involved in the activities of the Hong Kong Veterans Association. Bardal lives in Husavik, just south of Gimli. In 2000, he was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Icelandic Order of the Falcon, the highest honour bestowed by Iceland.The Order of Manitoba was established in 1999, the Order is the highest honour in the Province of Manitoba. It recognizes individuals who have demonstrated excellence and achievement in any field of endeavour, benefiting in an outstanding manner the social, cultural or economic well being of Manitoba and its residents. 06.27.2006 - A Celebration of Syd Peebles' Life JAMES SYDNEY (SYD) PEEBLES ![]() Syd was born in Glasgow, Scotland on February 13, 1943 and immigrated to Canada in April of 1968. He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife of 42 years, but, sweetheart of 47 years, Margaret; son Scott; daughter Sandra (Sam); grandson Connor; his brothers Archie (Pat) and Billy (Chris) Syd was a member of St. John's Lodge #4 AF AM, GRM. He was a skilled carpenter by trade who worked at Eaton's until 1994 and continued on with the Senior's Job Bureau. Syd loved the game of soccer with a special place in his heart for the Glasgow Rangers F.C. He enjoyed travelling with his wife to any place the sun was shining and his visits back to Bonnie Scotland. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. D. Breckman of the Assiniboine Clinic and Dr. C. Cymbalisty of the Grace Hospital for their care and concern. Syd had an infectious sense of humour and integrity that endeared him to his family and many friends. His word was his bond and he didn't suffer fools lightly. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all those who knew him. A Celebration of Syd's life will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in the Masonic Memorial Temple, 420 Corydon Ave., Winnipeg. If he were with us now, he would say to all of you Cheerio for now.
